For Immediate Release

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Muscogee Nation is delighted to announce its participation in this year’s Mvskoke Etvlwv Festival at the Smithsonian’s National Museum of the American Indian during the weekend of November 1-2, 2024. This event provides the tribe a unique platform to educate and share its heritage with visitors from across the United States and the world while also celebrating the rich history, vibrant culture and enduring traditions of the Muscogee people.

This year will mark the nation’s fourth time participating and first since 2017. As in years past, the festival will feature a variety of cultural demonstrations such as language presentations, traditional attire, interactive activities, authentic Mvskoke artwork and singing. Visitors will also have the opportunity to engage with tribal leaders and representatives to learn more about the significant contributions and services the nation provides to its people and communities.

“We’re thrilled to once again showcase the magnificence of Mvskoke culture and our most precious resource, our people, on a national stage at this year’s upcoming Mvskoke Etvlwv Festival in Washington, D.C.,” Muscogee Nation Principal Chief David Hill said. “We value our amazing partnership with NMAI and the Smithsonian Institute, and the care and respect shown to our story and to the authenticity in how it is portrayed. We’re very excited for this year’s event and hope to see many there joining with us in fellowship and celebration.”

The Mvskoke Etvlwv Festival will open from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on both days and admission is free.

In partnership with Native peoples and their allies, the National Museum of the American Indian fosters a richer shared human experience through a more informed understanding of Native peoples. For additional information, including hours and directions, visit AmericanIndian.si.edu.
